Course Content Days 1 and 2, Tuesday and Wednesday: we will be based at the historic ST. IVES SCHOOL OF PAINTING studio overlooking Porthmeor Beach, where Ben Nicholson, Patrick Heron, Sandra Blow and many others worked. Here we can have painting and tuition whatever the weather, and use it as a base for exploring and painting St. Ives and visiting the Tate Gallery.
Day 3, Thursday: our base will be Richard Sorrell’s studio on the wild moors of West Penwith. Those that wish can see the ancient settlement nearby at Chysauster, or make a trip to the Penlee Gallery, or to Newlyn or Mousehole, or stay and work in and around Richard’s studio, where we shall have supper together.
Day 4, Friday: in the morning we shall visit Trevarno, a beautiful Cornish garden where we can paint or sketch a different subject matter in a different light. We shall have lunch there before going to work in the afternoon at Janet Treloar’s cliff top studio - a very different light again. Supper at Janet’s cottage.
On Monday the 16th we shall meet at 6pm at the Sloop Inn on the harbour front at St. Ives for a get-together and those that wish can go to the £7 ‘drop in’ life classes held at the St. Ives School 7.30–9.30pm.
