Janet Kerr

ELECTED ARWS 1995 & RWS 1997

Born in Hornchurch, Essex in 1947, Janet Kerr studied Graphics at Barking Regional College and went on to work as an album cover designer for 10 years.  She moved to Yorkshire in 1974 with the record company and when her daughter was born in 1978, she returned to her first love of painting. She drew inspiration from the West Yorkshire Pennine landscape, which surrounded her home.  Her painting was mentored by the late Charles Bartlett PPRWS from 1989 until her election in 1995, and in 2007 began printmaking under the guidance of  Peter Wray RE. Her paintings are produced from drawings in the studio, and are mostly mixed water-based media on paper.
