Step into the RWS Atelier and spend the day painting and drawing with the artists of the Royal Watercolour Society. This rare opportunity will enable you to sit (or stand!) alongside some of the world's premier watercolour painters and see how they approach an extravagant still life which will take centre stage in the library studio at the Heatherley School of Fine Art.
Well-established and emerging RWS artists such as Gertie Young, Gerry Baptist, Julie D. Cooper and David Hamilton are all set to drop in throughout the day to paint alongside you.
Please bring the art materials that you feel most comfortable using. This may be watercolour, charcoal, pencil crayon, pastel etc.* You should also bring along any additional items such as water pots, paper, brushes, erasers as we cannot guarantee that these will be available to borrow from Heatherley's on the day.
*Please do not bring oil paints, spray paint or any other materials that requires proper ventillation. Fixatives for charcoal drawings may be used in the external areas.
**This is not a tutored session, however RWS artists will be on hand to offer advice if desired.
We are opening the RWS Atelier with the aim of raising funds for the renovation of our new Gallery on Whitcomb Street, just off Trafalgar Square. The space is currently in need of a lot of TLC in order to transform it into a beautiful gallery and home for the Archive & Diploma Collection, to complement our current home at Bankside Gallery.
