Royal Watercolour Society at the RWS Gallery

11 July - 31 December 2026 RWS Gallery
A year-round and evolving showcase of artworks by artists of the Royal Watercolour Society at their gallery next to Trafalgar Square.

The next iteration of the Royal Watercolour Society’s evolving permanent display will be a vibrant and lively exhibition in a busy, salon-style hang, showcasing some of the very best in contemporary water-based painting today.

This display also marks a return to the Society’s origins. Inspired by John Frederick Lewis’s sketch The Gallery of the Society of Painters in Water Colours before the Exhibition, 1830, the exhibition recalls the richly layered salon hangs that filled 3 - 5 Whitcomb Street almost two centuries ago.

Echoing that historic scene, this new presentation of Members’ work embraces the spirit of those early exhibitions, resulting in a dynamic display full of unexpected discoveries.
