David Rees Davies

ELECTED ARWS 2025

David Rees Davies studied at the Royal College of Art and soon after went on to produce regular satirical illustrations for Private Eye and work for Penguin and other publishers. Moving to Scotland, David joined Glasgow Print Studio and exhibited as a painter and printmaker before settling in Sussex. David’s work has been shown regularly at the Welsh National Eisteddfod and in major drawing competitions throughout the UK and Europe.

Like many children, David loved nature and the wildlife around his home in Wales. He was captivated by the rivers and dunes, rich with birds, animals, and song, thinking the world would always stay that way. He still has the same awe and respect for wildlife and the countryside and attempts to celebrate its uncanny beauty while acknowledging our despoliation and the loss of nature. At the same time, a constant source of delight and inspiration to David is glimpsing and capturing the ridiculous, the quirks and strangeness of people as they go about their daily activities.
