Angus McEwan

ELECTED ARWS 2009 & RWS 2012

Born in 1963, Dundee, Angus studied Fine Art at Duncan of Jordanston College of Art, and Northern College of Education, Aberdeen, where he gained the Post Graduate Certificate Secondary Education. In 2005 he was elected a member of the Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolours.

Angus is at present a lecturer in Art & Design at Dundee College and has had several one man shows in Scotland. His work has been in many prestigious group exhibitions in London.

He travels widely to inform his work, and has visited China, Cuba, and most recently Malta in the company of other RWS Members. Angus celebrates textured surfaces, the play of light on a weathered door or the complex colour arrangement that only time reveals. He will alter reality to describe or emphasise, add or remove, control or reveal that which informs the viewer. He feels his role of artist to be more than a mere recorder of facts and to edit and conduct the many facets that produce an interesting image.
