Can you make it without going to art school? Can you get back into the art world after years away? And what does success actually mean?

How to Enter the Art World by acclaimed curator and writer, Hettie Judah, is a grown-up guide for any artist whose life is complicated, demanding and, well, human. Informed by years spent working with artists and dozens of candid interviews, it is a myth-busting bonanza full of insights, ideas and inspiration. Frank, funny and occasionally forthright, this is your friend on the path (back) into the art world.

Join us for an afternoon at the RWS Gallery, where Hettie will speak about her experiences and insights surrounding the topic of her new book in an informal Q&A setting. This event will also provide an opportunity to connect with other artists, and talk about getting your work out there.

The afternoon will begin with a chance to get a complimentary drink and take a look around the gallery, followed by a short series of informal presentations by Royal Watercolour Society Member artists, and then opening the floor for a Q&A with Hettie. Guests will have a chance to buy a signed copy of the book at the end of the event.

Hettie Judah is a writer, and curator of the acclaimed exhibition Acts of Creation: On Art and Motherhood. The author of numerous books on art, she is well known as a critic, columnist, broadcaster and advocate for artists’ rights.

Each ticket includes a welcome drink which will be served from 2pm. Guests are invited to take a look around the gallery, with the event starting promptly at 2.30pm.
