RWS Gallery at Whitcomb Street £45 10.30am - 12.30pm
Discover how the right materials can transform your watercolour painting in this introductory workshop. You'll explore the characteristics of different watercolour papers, including hot-pressed, cold-pressed and rough surfaces, and learn how each affects the way paint behaves.

You'll also be introduced to a selection of essential brushes, from versatile round brushes to flat wash brushes, discovering how their shapes and sizes can be used to create different marks, lines and washes. Through a series of practical exercises, you'll compare materials side by side and gain confidence in choosing the right tools for your own painting practice.

Ideal for beginners or anyone looking to better understand the foundations of watercolour, this session will give you the knowledge to make informed choices when selecting materials.

Whether you're completely new to watercolour, studying art, or looking to strengthen your technical skills, RWS Summer School offers an opportunity to build your knowledge in manageable, focused sessions.

All materials are provided.

This workshop will take place at RWS Gallery on Whitcomb Street, just off Trafalgar Square.
