This December, join us at RWS Gallery for Exploring Media, a new series of practical two-hour workshops exploring six different water-based media: watercolour, gouache, ink, acrylic, masking fluid and egg tempera.
Exploring Watercolour
Explore the qualities of watercolour paints straight from the tube and discover how their consistency and application can influence the painting process and final result. In this practical workshop, participants will experiment with colour mixing, blending and spontaneous application, exploring how wet paint can create expressive washes, vibrant colour and rich, varied surfaces.
The session will also explore the role of brushes in watercolour painting, considering how different shapes and sizes can be used to achieve a range of effects. Through experimentation with materials and techniques, participants will develop a greater understanding of how paint consistency, application and brush choice can shape their approach to watercolour.
All materials are provided.
This workshop will take place at RWS Gallery on Whitcomb Street, just off Trafalgar Square.
All bookings are non-refundable.
Exploring Media is supported by Winsor & Newton and John Purcell Paper.
